Nestled in the South Westerly corner of France, the region of Aquitaine is a delight for any traveller. Whether you are ten or a hundred, there is so much to see and do that one visit will almost certainly be insufficient.
The north of the region is chocabloc with medieval cities – some perched precariously on the banks of rivers, others delivering a striking contrast between the past and twenty-first century living. Dotted between these cities are countless chateaus – many of which come with extensive, beautifully landscaped gardens.
And saving the best until last: Aquitaine is home to some of the best vineyards and wines in the country. A trip to the vineyards at Bordeaux or St Emilion will allow you to sample the real delicacies of this part of France.
For the complete Aquitaine experience however, you need to find the right property. Fortunately, there are more and more unique properties popping up throughout the region. Secluded gites, small chateaus, hilltop farmhouses are just some of the options for rent. You can even stay on a vineyard to sample the local tipple firsthand. It really all depends on your taste – Aquitaine has it all – it's just up to you to make the most of it.
